Evonne Hoback brings over 10 years of experience as McMinn County Clerk. Prior to her election in 2000, she was a deputy for 8 years under the guidance of Helen Haskins. She is the daughter of Eva May Murray Hoback and the late Paul Jackson Hoback and resides at her home place in northern McMinn County. Evonne is committed to the community and has served on various committees, associations and boards over the years. Locally, she has been an active member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church for 39 years. She is also in the Athens Community Chorus.
Evonne is a 1979 graduate of McMinn County High School. Evonne attended the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga and received her Public Administrator Certification and completed the Government Leadership Program from the UTK Institute for Public Service.
During her ten year service, she has been a member of the State of Tennessee County Officials Association and has served in various capacities: Notary Committee-Chair, Motor Vehicle Committee, Trust Committee, Business Tax Committee, Driver License Committee-Chair, the County Clerks Association and the County Clerk Organ Donor Board.
Evonne is a member of the McMinn County Records Committee, the McMinn County Insurance Committee and serves as Treasurer of the Forestry Committee.
Since elected in 2000, Evonne's mission has been to offer the best public services possible. The deputies have many years of knowledge and experience to assist taxpayers: Eleven (11) full-time deputies---two (2) of which obtained their certified public administrator certification and one part time employee.
